49th Stonewall Anniversary

6/27/2018

Comments

The 49th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots was wonderful.  Dirty Dorothy, our local national treasure, gave us stage time in the middle of her Chit Chat Show to teach the patrons of Missie B's a little history.  Sister Hunny didn't disappoint, dishing out important facts, while quicky answering questions in between.

Topeka Pride Prom

Novice Sister FranKenSiren attended this event in the north Topeka arts district with fellow Sisters. The beauty of being outside of the bar scene is, all ages are welcome, allowing the Sisters to interact with the local youth, as well as their parents/guardians. The event was sponsored by Beacon Youth Group (Topeka, KS's teen equality group), and all proceeds went toward the costs of Topeka Pride.

There was a wonderful turnout, including youth from Beacon, and outside youth who heard from their friends.
The Sisters were asked to help with door check, educate the youth in attendance, and take some pics with attendees.

A big thanks to Nicole Nesmith, the organizer of Beacon, for having us out and getting us involved. Let's not forget Eugene Jones, who is on the board of Topeka pride.

If you're in the Topeka area, and need some testing, check out Positive Connections.

Des Moines Pride

The City of Fountains Sisters headed up to Des Moines, IA to celebrate Pride with the MOPI house (Missionary Order of Perpetual Indulgence).  We were graciously accepted, and promptly fed.

The Fourth City Sisters, an aspirant house from Saint Louis, decided to make the trek as well. Naturally, everyone had a wonderful time.

Sister Clara and her gang of rowdy nuns are always very gracious, accepting, and fun.  They have so many lessons and Sistory to share with all who visit.

The Queen's Garden Party

6/9/2018

Comments

Hope Care Center held the second annual Queen's Garden Party on the lawn.  Residents were so excited to see everyone and hang out.  There were furry lil animals to pet (but they avoided Sister Burma), Detroit Coney food truck, and cocktails provided by Bistro 303.

It's always a pleasure to spend the afternoon with the residents of Hope Care Center!

Bear Bust: PRIDE

Hamburger Mary's proudly presents their annual Bear Bust: PRIDE!...A Big F@ggy Bear Bust! It's the biggest Bear Bust event of the year. For this occasion, it's leather, lace, fur, fairies, uniforms, unicorns, gear, glitter, halos and hairy bodies! It's the Bear Bust's huge tribute to being gay and celebrating all the silly stereotypes that LGBTQ community has been labeled with over the years.

In addition to the Bear Bust go-go men entertained the patrons and staff, all night long.  They even brought back one of the biggest, most popular personalities they've ever had in for the KC Bear Bust, Eisen Loch. Founder, producer and even performer of DeviantMan.

We, the City of Fountain Sisters hosted their annual Big F@ggy Bear contest! So many came in their best seasonal wear, and made for a tough contest. Mary's provided a $50 cash prize.

KC PrideFest '18

6/1/2018

Comments

6-1 through 6-3

Day 1

We set up our booth, found power, and plugged in a fan because it was hot and humid.  Luckily, we were right next to a food truck and they had the cheapest drinks at the entire festival!

Day 2

We had an influx of patrons, and a ton of fun.  The Fourth City Sisters, the aspirant house out of Saint Louis, showed up, manifested, to hang out with us.

We had a lot of food, fun, and pictures.  We found a nice shady tree to perch under and take pics.  While still warm, it was less humid and quite windy.

Nobody melted!
Day 3

The last day of KC PrideFest '18, and the Fourth City Sisters came to hang out, yet again!!!

It was only a half day for the final day, but seemed to be busier than Friday or Saturday.  We had some sales, and we had more fun, and more food.

See y'all again next year!
