Mid America Freedom Band Gala

5/25/2018

Comments

The National Lesbian and Gay Band Association Conference Jazz Concert and Gala was a blast!!!  It was at the Lyric Opera, which is simply stunning, inside and out.

The Sisters helped with the buffet line, filling supplies, keeping food covered and warm, and then enjoyed the show.  They even ran into some familiar faces!

This event was wonderful.  We got to help the contestants in the dressing room, observe from the entrances, and someone even got to be a judge!  The youth participants did an absolutely amazing job, no matter the outcome.  They got ready, got up there, and gave it their all.

Sister CupKake attended Modern Family Alliance (MFA) International Family Equality Day Picnic at Swope Park.  The message of the picnic was children's rights matter.  Sister CupKake mingled with the kiddos, made 'em laugh, cry, and stare, then read them a story, teaching them about Harvey Milk and the creation of the Pride flag!!

Equality Teen Prom '18

5/4/2018

Equality Teen Prom 2018 was hosted by the Kansas City Center for Inclusion (KCCI).

There was an amazing turnout.  Parents, guardians, and other support members had their own private room with snacks and drinks.  The main banquet room had tables decorated with a centerpiece, plates and cups, and glow sticks.

Once night fell, it lit up! The neon theme seemed to be quite a hit; the kids were enjoying their complimentary glow sticks and the brightly colored lights shining into the banquet room.

Beer City Sisters Exequatur Weekend

The Beer City Sisters, Abbey of All Souls invited Sisters, Guards, Brother, Families and Friends to join them in celebrating their house becoming a Fully Professed House of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

We traveled from Knasas City, MO to Asheville, NC. We were greeted with the sign of the DoubleTree hotel reading "Welcome Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence", and a huge chalkboard that said "Beer City Sisters". The hotel staff was amazing, and the residents and tourists had nothing but acceptance and questions...and more questions.

On Thursday, we had the meet and greet, giving us an opportunity to meet people from other houses. After that, we went to Mellow Mushroom for some wonderful pizza, which benefited Dining out for Life.

Friday, we had many options to choose from, like hiking in the mountains, walk around downtown, a beer tour, and a comedy tour. Most of us chose to go on the downtown walk to interact with the locals, and see what Asheville was all about. That evening, we went to the underwear glow party at OHenry's. It was a blast!!!

Saturday, many chose to visit the Biltmore Estate. The drive up to the estate was breathtaking, but walking the halls and seeing how much detail went into every single part of the construction and decor was simply astounding. We even got to see the wardrobe from Titanic, the movie!

The Black & Gold veiling ceremony was at Highland Brewing Co. It was a lovely venue, with horderves, drinks, and tons of nuns. We saw the Beer City Sisters perform, get veiled, and celebrate. The celebration continued at the leather and fetish after party at OHenry's.

On Sunday, we said our goodbyes at the farewell brunch in the host hotel. While there, we had a wonderful blessing over the giant heap of glitter. It was then dispersed in corked vials to each in attendance.
